I am a 29-year-old sophmore currently in attendance at Peninsula College. I am majoring in education. My grade point average is 3.67, with 4.0 being perfect. With my high GPA, penninsula college has hired me several times to take lecture notes for students with various disabilities.

Experience

I have sucessfully completed all colege level English classes, with excellent grades. My major of study, education, has guided me through phsychology and human relatons courses. I have also completed human development classes, which outline learning styles and tactics that humans can use for educational purposes. I have spent many hours volenteering at a local elementary school and at the campus pre-school. One of the most common tutoring methods I have used is the 'zone of proximial development' method. This is a formal educational model that encourages the child to understand a concept, on their own, that is just above their knowledge level. I find the field of education and human relations and development to be very interesting and rewarding. If I can help someone to better understand a concept or subject, I know that their own couriosity and confidence will be naturally sparked. I believe that toutors should not only help a student complete required work, but invoke a bit of couriosity and interest in the subject matter that will continue throughout their life.

I am a 29-year old mother of two boys. I have homeschooled my older son for two years of his life, yet he currently attends public school. As a mother and student, I have a good understanding of the reluctance children may show towards eduaction. I also understand about the short attention span caused from a lack of interest, and just being young. I am a fun person with a lot of paitence. I like to make jokes and have a good time, yet I am able to keep on track. I have great managment skills, and understand efficient use of time. I am energetic and get along with young people very well. My hobbies include running, mountain biking, gardening, and sewing.
